In 1944, both Braun factories were almost completely destroyed during bombing raids.  It seemed almost certain that the Braun factories would be dismantled.  But, Max Braun threw all his energy in to saving his company.  In 1947, Braun gradually resumes production of its core products:  Radios and a pocket flashlight.  During the slack period after the war Braun thought of possible areas of innovation.  He decided to venture into two new products:  electric shavers and kitchen appliances.  The Braun Company's first electric shaver was the "S 50".  This product incorporates the sucessful combination of an oscillating cutter block with an ultra thin steel-foil mounted above it.  The company's first small kitchen appliance, which was patented in 1950 was a blender called "Multimix".  In the following year Braun established a new subsidary for marketing Braun's belnders and electric shavers, Braun GmbH.
Sales exceeded company expectations, surpassing the company's revenues generated by radios and turntables.

In 1951, Max Braun died and management was taken over by his sons.  The 1950s and the 1960s Braun introduced a new variety of products, cameras, juicers, hand-held mixer and hot air heaters were a few.  In 1967, The Gillette Company acquires a majority holding in Braun giving them the financial and human resources to develop into a truly international enterprise.

The 1970s-1990s Braun kept developing and launching new products for which it was awarded many prizes, such as "The Corporate Design Award", thus securing the company a leading position among the world's electric appliance makers.  Since kitchen appliances, electric shavers and oral care where the company's mainstay, the company decided to focus away from radios and televisions and  initiated two decades of strategic refocusing, cost consolidation and reorganization.

In 1996 Braun acquires the ThermoScan company - the leading manufacturer of infrared thermometers.  With this Braun enters a new product category.  Personal Diagnostic Appliances.  In 1988 Braun is converted into GmbH, and one year later all Gillette brands are consolidated in a joint Gillette sales organization.

Today Braun is best know for their electric shavers, small kitchen appliances, water kettles, irons, hair dryers, blood pressure monitors and thermometers.  The quality of Braun products makes them a leading innovator in today's markets.
