Did you know? The Immersion Blender was invented in Switzerland and patented in the 1950's by Roger Perrinjaquet. Roger Perrinjaquet called the Immersion Blender "bamix" an abbreviation of the french word "battre et mixer, which means beat and mix. The Immersion Blender has been used in European kitchen's since 1960. The United States began to use the immersion blender in the 1980s. The Immersion Blender is sometimes called a stick blender, wand blender, torpedo blender, electric hand blender or a Beramixer (after the brand name of professional models, made by Dito-Electrolux). In larger professional kitchens the Immersion Blender may also be called the "boat motor".
